Time chart

A time chart plots simulation outputs against time. Outputs that are not time-dependent, such as parameters, will be plotted as straight lines.

Creating a time chart

From the results window (Recommended)

  • Select at least one time dependent output. This will create a quick view which, by default, is a time chart for time dependent outputs. Or,
  • Right-click the output or outputs that you wish to plot and select Time Chart from the popup-menu

From the charts window

  • Click the button, or
  • Right-click the charts window and select Create | Time Chart from the popup-menu

Editing a time chart

Some properties can be changed directly by using the controls below the chart. For a time chart there are controls for:

  • Legend - Toggle legend on/off
  • Lines - Toggle lines drawn between points on/off
  • Shapes - Toggle shapes drawn at points on/off
  • Log-x - Toggle log scale for x-axis on/off
  • Log-y - Toggle log scale for y-axis on/off

To change other properties either right-click the chart in the charts window and select Edit, or double-click the chart, or click the Edit button in the title bar. The chart editor has two tabs:

Properties

This screen let you edit properties such as name and axes, that are common to most charts. Please see editing chart properties for more information.

Data

  • Outputs - Select simulation outputs from the left hand list by using the arrow buttons.
  • Time series - You can use the simulation output time, or specify a custom time series. When you create a custom time series, the simulation output data will be interpolated for these time points. A custom time series is created in the same manner as in simulation settings.
  • Statistics - This panel is only available for probabilistic data and makes it possible to add several graphs with different statistical properties.
    • Mean - Check this box to add a graph with mean values for the outputs.
    • Median - Check this box to add a graph with median values for the outputs.
    • Lower percentile - Check this box and enter a value 0>x>100 to add a graph with the given percentile for the outputs.
    • Upper percentile - Check this box and enter a value 0>x>100 to add a graph with the given percentile for the outputs.
    • Iteration - Check this box to plot a given iteration or all iterations. To plot a specific iteration, enter a number in the field, otherwise select the All box.
